Welcome to my site. Let me start by introducing myself: my name is Tijs Hoeksma. I was born during the oil crisis of 1973 in a field of tulips near Amsterdam. After secondary school I studied English and Business Communications.
During these studies I watched a lot of TV. The world of television is a wonderful place, but it does not stimulate the brain much. I wanted to do something creative and therefore decided to start painting.
My paintings can be pigeon-holed very easily. They are simple, abstract, comic and positive.
My motto is that you should not think too much about art, otherwise the ball will miss the goal. Art is like football: the easier, the better. The following quote, by FC Knudde's Austrian coach Ernst Hapfel, sums up my feelings about Art.
